Semester Log

This interactive media class went beyond my expectations, because it gave me a chance to practice programming concept that I have learnt before. During this semester I have learned how to use processing and how to program the Arduino board. As someone who wants to pursue further studies with embedded systems this was good training.

During the first part of the semester I gained a working knowledge of processing. I learnt how to use processing to design a wide range of programs; from moving objects to a drum set. I also learn how to use the arduino compiler to write processes that controlled the arduino board.

My favorite assignment was my midterm assignment. This was my favorite because it was the most challenging. The goal of my assignment was to design a drum set that takes input from the keyboard. This project required an object oriented programming approach. I had no prior experiences developing object oriented programs, so I had do a lot of research on my own. At the end I believe that I have grasped the fundamental concepts of object oriented programming.

Comments

Everyone who takes this class have some kind of programming experience. So I think it will be a good idea for future classes to start working with the arduino board a lot earlier than we did.

Homework 12

This is our speaker and buttons. This time it was pretty interesting because of using a circuit buttons for input and speaker as output. We learned about building a circuit with arduino and protecting the board from too much current by utilizing a resistor.

LED Show

Here is the LED show project where I first use a two led scroller and then a slow blink, fast blink, a one LED scroller, and then a binary counter.

This homework was very interesting. I especially like the fact that i learn how to load pictures from my root folder to my program. I can think of many interesting exerciser I can do with this.

Drawing board

This class was the most interesting so far. Designing this drawing board was particularly interesting because I was able to create a tool that is used by many people all over the world in their daily lives. This experience have made me more interested in this class and in this type of programming.

Today i learnt how to write dynamic C code in the processing compiler to achieve real time input and output. This was my first time using the mouse as and input device into a program. Each week I find this class to be very hands-on and informative. I really like this approach because it give me a chance to apply what's been taught in class.
